My Sunshine
My sunshine is bright today
Her hope takes the gray away
Inspires questions inside of me
Encourages answers for me to see
I just hope I was as affective
At giving her some perspective
She has been there to discover
What pain I was attempting to cover
My long awaited Self revelation
My distressing Self destruction
Lone support, comfort of mine,
My best friend, my sunshine
4 years and still going strong
A best friend I've had for long
She shines as bright as a star,
I don't want to stray too far
I'll return to thee, my light
I hope you still shine on me bright
She sees through my veil of dark
Inside me, a light she sparks
Since she's seen the light leave my eyes
She brings it back and fills my skies
Her I admire, who does inspire,
in me desire, a brilliant fire,
to further reach higher,
I'm afraid without her I'll fall
Leaving me with nothing at all
But I have to be strong right now
And that is what I'll proudly vow
To keep the light she put in my soul
Even when I'm across the country whole
I'll remember her, in this heart of mine
My brave, incredible, impossible sunshine

This was written for my best friend. She helped me through a rough time, and I can never thank her enough for that. Thank you, Athena.
