Ode to the Moon
O Moon, dear Moon
Fall down upon the ground of my world
Drop to your knees and pray for solitude
O Moon, dear Moon
Be the light when darkness overcomes
Stall in the sky and remind me of nighttime
O Moon, dear Moon
Be the only one who’s ever there
Always watching, always protecting
Forever a helpless overseeing eye
Waiting for the inevitable end of time
O Moon, dear Moon
Do what you can but not enough
Remain in silence and in neverending agony
Let the knife dance across your skin
Allow in the tickling graze of a bullet
Watch the blood spill from the devil’s eye
And tear the leather from the fabric of happiness
O Moon, dear Moon
Please never fall down again
