Poseidon's Trident
As I stare out into the empty, arid land
I feel powerful.
My three golden prongs
radiate in the sun,
pure and bright as a star.
Poseidon raises me up
and drops me down
with a threatening thud.
I obey my master’s unspoken order
and provide a swift river,
spilling and flowing along the earth.
The low pit pat of droplets
dribbling down my gold exterior
is music to my ears.
It reminds me of
the influence held by
none but me.
Poseidon thinks he is the one
who holds the power,
but it is I
who can create,
who can destroy.
