Losing Control
The sound of the water lapping onto the shore,
constantly,
as if it refuses to be sent away.
The various blues mixing.
The sea foam glistening and pearly white.
There's a cold rush,
as you take a step into the deep,
mysterious ocean.
Giving away your security,
and becoming vulnerable,
to whatever it has in store for you.
As if in a trance,
eyes fixed,
body tense,
you keep walking in,
until you are submerged.
The waves capture you,
taking you farther and farther into the sea.
Waiting patiently,
as if it knew you were coming.
Suddenly you have no footing,
no way of returning,
to either the shore or the surface.
The water has full control of you and there is no escape.
