Look at Me
The torment on the outside
Seems to never get to me
When others look at me
through their own eyes,
But why not
Look at me
Through my eyes.
You may just learn something
About me that you never knew.
You may just see
A truth that you saw falsely.
You may just see
That the sticks and stones
That you always throw
Have already pierced my skin
And penetrated deep down
Into the darkest places
Within my very being.
Please look at me
Through a set of eyes
That are not your own.
Please look at me
Before you throw another stick or stone.
