He Stood
There he stood, dressed in metal and wood,
a half built home, lifeless he was,
yet to discover the joy of days without work.
In the smoggy air of cold breaths that rose like smoke,
the evanescent breaths broke away from the mouths of the men
climbing up on him.
They pressed fire upon him, sparking him with a hope for life,
the men with breath like smoke.
the fire came down, engulfing the snow that futilely stood in its way.
Sparks of light guiding the building up and up.
The snow fell down, he rose up.
There he stood, dressed in metal and wood,
with a spark of the life that is soon to come.
