Lasting Light of the Pharos

As it stands in Alexandria
built by the Ptolemaic Kingdom,
mirrors of polished bronze reflect fire to burn unwanted enemies.
Tortuous, brutal. A light that will last forever.

Painted chemicals illuminate
the city during sunset. As high as 600 feet in the air, nothing can reach.
Untroubled, beautiful. A light that will last forever.

Roaring pieces start to shake.
Limestone blocks fall hundreds of feet to the ground.
A beam of light through thick smoke appears miles away.
Still seen, dependable. A light that will last forever.

The third longest remaining wonder--gone but never forgotten.
Once a tower, only left now,
a light that will last forever.
