The Mop
To what do I owe this great pleasure?
This dance partner of mine
Who through these hallways has danced
With me, who sheds dirty tears
Dirty tears that I must wash away
Wash away your sorrows in the music
Transform these dusty floors to marble
These school lockers become
The life of the party, swirling and whirling
As my dance partner and I dance
Singing a music that cannot be heard
A music only I may hear, that plays
So quietly plays in the realm of the heart
A song of loneliness, a song of when
My dance partner must leave, like Cinderella
And I must find them again with only the crystal slipper
Of their tears
Left to me, like a gift
Each and every night
