The butterfly in your chest
Emerges and flutters
Fragile
Without its cocoon
This is how you fall
Smiles and laughter
Coffee cups and coffee spoons
Dog-eared book pages
Holding hands
Park benches during the summer
Soaring butterflies
This is how everything goes wrong
Thunderstorm tears
Shattered mugs
Torn out pages
Hesitant touches
Falling, brown leaves in the park
Crushed butterfly wings
And this is how it ends
With cardiac arrest
