Hard Love

Love isn’t so blind,
It’s super hard to find,
And harder to find someone kind,
Just like notebook paper, all blank lined

It doesn’t take much to open your eyes,
It only takes seconds to actually realize,
The person you thought you love told lies,
They took their love away and broke all ties

You know you’re very smart,
They just decided to take your heart,
And rip it to pieces, break it apart,
Left a bitter sweet taste in your mouth, very tart

Now they’re a piece of trash,
Basically just an annoying butt rash,
They were gone with a flash,
And took all your cash

Love is hard to know,
Almost as hard as math,
Before you learn how to show,
Love will turn it back and give you its wrath.

The author's comments:

In class we were to write about the love or lack of love between people.  I was leaning more towards the lack of love side because I don’t know what love is yet since I have not yet experienced it.  I wanted to make the poem into more of a story so more people can relate to the things written.  The poem is relatable and keep the reader engaged with the little funny lines I put in.  I also really enjoy poems that rhyme and I think that a rhyming poem can keep the reader more interested in it as well.
