Place of Forgotten Love
One minute I feel like nothing can hurt me,
I'm lifted up by feelings of love,
And I can't be torn down,
But then,
Right before my eyes,
I am shot straight through my heart,
Blood draining,
My soul leaving with it,
As I drop to my knees,
Everything around me disappears,
And all of the memories of him,
Are presented to me on a screen,
As if I'm watching a movie,
It shows the way he would smile at me,
The moment I fell for him,
The moment it all went wrong.
My vision is getting blurry,
And I fall to the ground,
I see a dark figure tear through the screen,
As everything goes black.
I wake up in a room painted with words,
Someone is standing over me,
And I feel nothing but heat.
"Where am I?" I shout,
The response is a cold, bitter laugh,
"You're home," says the voice,
Not making any sense,
"But I was shot in the heart,
I should be dead,"
"You didn't need it anymore,
I've replaced it with stone,"
The cloaked figure steps aside,
To reveal my damaged heart,
Placed on a silver tray,
"You see,
When someone's heart breaks beyond repair,
They come here.
These words written on the walls,
Are broken promises,
Lies that sent people like you over the edge,"
He snorts and forces me to my feet,
"Does the stone heart feel any different?"
My face burns,
"It feels lighter,
But that doesn't make any sense,"
The figure laughs again,
"The stone heart is free from the burdens of love,
The emotions attached to your real one,
Made it heavier.
And now that you don't believe in love,
Things will be much easier for you,"
He begins to walk away,
Apparently wanting me to follow,
When I say, "But I do believe in love,"
He says something under his breath,
It sounds like "naive girl,"
Then he turns to me and says,
"You don't, otherwise you wouldn't be here.
Welcome to the Place of Forgotten Love."
