Free!
Her dreams could be found in the night sky
The best hiding place was up too high
The dark offered hope
That she’d someday be free
Free of chains
And a shot at change
The window offered her an escape
To a world with a clean slate
She’d not look back
For there’s nothing in the past
But mind numbing pain
And tears in abundance like rain
Even in the darkness of night
The world’s beauty was in plain sight
And her dreams were closer in reach
So close they’d became reality
Her life had color
The world was hers to discover.
