I Took the Torch From Flailing Hands
I took the torch from failing hands
That gave their final breath.
Death surrounds us all and knows
That we will not forget.
This war has dragged us on and on,
Through the many nights.
We’ve lived and died,
Again and again,
Until our final plight.
Many died here,
Some did live,
This war won’t be the same again.
Will it go on,
Will it end?
My life won’t be the same again.
