Thunder and Fighting
No one can save us
No one can save them
My parent’s eyes filled with honesty
That was our cue to get out
This was a normal routine in our house
Our parent’s were different people trying to make it work
We ran.
It was not fast enough
We still heard the thunder
We sat in silence until it was safe again
The thunder echoed for miles
The rain followed the thunder
We heard sobs for hours
All that was left was the lightning
The thunder started to roar
Louder and louder
Then quieter until it was complete silence
Rain was getting harder as well
Then it stopped
Our house was okay again
The lightning finally arrived
And we thought it would all be okay
Until the lightning storm lasted only a second
We sat in silence
Waiting for the next thunderstorm to arrive.
