My Father
My father and I don’t see eye to eye
We don’t see each other at all
I don’t want to be brought down
By the heart breaking sounds of his broken record ways
My life is a concert
I am able to make a million people happy by
Simply being present
I am able to change
I am able to make myself better
I am able to give an encore or an exciting guitar solo
My father is just a record, spinning and
Spinning
Never able to give an encore,
Or alter him-self in the way he performs
He gives his concerts
Letting people expect a grand finale
Only shutting them down with
Disappointment because he isn’t what
He brought himself out to be
He’ll never change
He’ll never be more than a
Broken, scratched record
Bu his broken record ways allowed me to give a concert
That is real and true.
