"The creative adult is the child who has survived" ~ Ursula K. Le Guin

We were little once.

We played of dragons and knights, spaceships and aliens, soldiers and villains.

We could do anything, we could be anything, and knew that it'd all be ok.

We were accepted no matter what came.

Now we're here.

We see the stark truth and permit it to reign.

We do what they say ‘cuz it gives us a grade.

A number, determines our value and fame.

When we were little we questioned it all,

but now all we question is when we will fall.

This world we find in adolescent years,

is one grown on lies and the enemy's tears

But there comes a time when we chose to forget,

We kill our previous selves. We put our minds in a bet.

We bet that we

can survive this hellhole.

Run by money, luck, greed,

and the people's sworn souls.

We forget that we're strong, we forget that we're free.

We forget we have power, and passion to see.

We accept the system, and make it our gospel.

Worst of all we forget that nothing's impossible.

So don't forget, don't forget,

please! don't ever forget.

That once you we're a child,

that once you were wild.

Don't play by their rules; those'll make you be lame.

Don't be one of their numbers, be a name.

Be creative, be free, improvise your part.

And being a child is the best way to start.

Sometime during high school we all lose something that was crucial during our childhood about our personalities. I believe that artists are those who chose to retain, or later recover, that something.

It&#039;s nicer to think dear, pretty thoughts and keep them in one&#039;s heart, like treasures. I don&#039;t like to have them laughed at or wondered over.<br /> -L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables)

This is exactly how I feel about high school...ever since freshman year I've been obsessed with finding my childhood happiness
