What I Fear
What I fear,
Is not the usual phobia,
Not the occasional spider,
Nor the corners draped in shadows.
What I fear,
Isn't the prolonged nightmare,
It isn't the fabled closet monster,
Or the boogeyman.
What I fear,
Is divorce, split couples,
Daunting teases and remarks,
Ignorant insecurities.
What I fear,
Is perfection, nervousness,
What I fear,
Is fear itself.

I've always been afraid of things no one even considers. I'm the person who isn't afraid of the dark, but of what is lurking in it.
