Where I'm From
A village where the silence of the wind blowing
can broken by the laughter of playing children next door.
A village where years behind grow memories of exaggerated war games
but now the meadow grows dense, too dense for memories to grow.
A village where the Fourth of July shows who cares for Stone Bank
because hundreds come to leave and not come back until next year.
In the woods with green trees and, seemingly perpetual trails
open and exposed like trapped animals.
In the woods explodes with life and energy of animals
now engulfed with lifeless aliens.
In the woods where mysterious noises can be heard
but never witness the start or end like our consciousness.
In a world where humans believe we should be treated equal
but can’t even treat the Earth itself right.
In a world where equals are created
make those who are equal, feel less.
In a world that holds oceans of water that make me believe they infinite over the horizon
claims to be a bottom that holds aquatic life together.
