To My Rival
The last time you lost
You conceded
And through that you believed
That the pinnacle was destined to be conquered
And I knew
One misstep
And it would be my turn
Again
To regain my lost glory
We understood without kindness
In smirks of gentle vengeance
In glares of trusting pride
To approve
And once more I saw
Your expectations, my holy grail in aureole
Ascending yet higher
As I groppled at the bottom
Of the real challenge
You.
You can't lose to anyone else.
Promise.

A poem for my rivals.
A real rival is someone whom you trust to do his/her best and to work hard to improve him/herself through honest means. A real rival is someone you would hate to lose to. Yet, internally, you admit that you are proud of him/her as well as yourself.
