My body shivers
as I wrap myself in nature's embrace;
oh, what a beauty she is
if only she found the courage to hold my hand
We look over the horizon
which presents sparks of hope
as the sunset electrifies my mind
and greets me with orange rays of light
The neighbor next door joins us;
we watch in complete awe,
sharing an exchange of love
as we forget our pasts for a split second
Then suddenly, the clangor of rain
pelts the ground with utter force,
disturbing the peace
and washing away my daydreamed thoughts
It forces me to snap back into reality
while it screams out with dismay
that I am a caged prototype
with priorities I must fulfill
I have no time
to love my enemy;
I have no time
to be unbiased;
And I have no time
to appreciate life
because this is war.
