Seconds Apart
He looked at me like I was something else
Like beautiful
Like special
He looked at me
and I could feel he didn’t see my awkwardly shaped nose
Or the bags under my eyes.
He looked at me and I felt
I was something worth looking at.
His eyes like craters
we hung
suspended
He looked at me
and I looked at him
We were just seconds apart
and we were floating in another world,
maybe another life.
His breath
My breath
And then we didn’t look anymore
Love trembled out of our parted lips
And we kissed.
