The Coming Out Poem
This poem is not for fun,
This poem is not a joke,
Though I wish it were.
Mom,
Dad,
Sister,
Brother,
Friend.
Know that I haven't changed,
I am the me that you've always loved,
And you did nothing wrong,
It is not your fault.
All I ask,
From those I love,
Is to accept me as me.
The person who left this poem for you,
They have a secret they wish to share,
Take note that they had courage to share, or they wouldn't dare.
Please, let them know you care.
The person who left this poem for you,
They're Gay.
But don't fret, don't you cry.
They are the same person you've come to love.
This was not a choice,
Who'd choose that?
But its their genes,
Born this way.
So, reader,
do as you will,
just think,
how courageous it is
to come out to you.

This poem is inspired by the hard coming out process. It is meant as a tool and a way to relate to others. I hope it's helpful.
