Broken Radio
Today the sunset was not beautiful
It was lost behind the grey expanse
That poured down the tears of God
Onto the land that caused them
Today I lost purpose in life
And Elvis died
His voice echoed in me
Behind the magical green liquidial valves he was alive
Today the news came on at 7
Like every other day
More tragedies, more death, more pain, more suffering
And a lawn mower for sale
Today I was shaking
As I addressed the young children
My hands could not hold a pen
My demented old brain could not hold the words
Today they buried me
Some more tears poured onto the land that caused them
They’ll remember me for a few more days
Before I vaporise into a memory
Behind the green liquidial valves I was dead

Inspired by a day when the sunset was really not beautiful, and nostalgia for a time where I did not even exist.
