You and I
You and I,
were so close our worlds intertwined.
There was this beautiful bridge filling the void between us.
I could cross the bridge and enter your world seamlessly.
And you enter mine.
Then suddenly out of nowhere this terrible wind brought in a tsunami.
The bridge was destroyed.
We tried to repair it,
You and I.
But every effort was in vain.
I tried so many times but was only hurt each time.
I think you were as well.
I can no longer hear your voice,
The wind howls too strongly and drowns you out.
For the void between us is too deep.
On my own I am not strong enough to trek the dangerous waters.
On my own I am not yet strong enough to stand alone.
On your own you fall and are left forgotten.
On your own you are washed away with the crowd.
I have this hole inside,
that you must fill.
Because I gave you my heart,
and you tore it apart.
