Melting
Melting
Scorching hot summer breeze
strokes my hair.
Ice cream drips down the cone.
Young laughing voices fill my ears.
Mixed with the crashing waves.
A game of volleyball.
Quick I think, to join the game.
The rocky road
melts slowly.
Before the sun finishes
the chocolate mess for me.
I glance around to see the game still in play.
A seagull swoops.
My head swirls.
The white bird snatches the cone
out of my grasp.
My eyes travel up and see
the scoop of happiness
amongst the clouds.
Soaring into the distance.
Towards the scorching hot sun.

I was inspired to write this poem because of the long winter, and wanting summer.
