I Can't Stand You
You kissed every deep scar on my body
With your once lonely lips.
You helped heal my wounds
Because you knew time was taking too long.
You pressed your skin against mine
And I no longer felt the need to die.
You take care of me,
Like I haven't ever been able to take care of myself.
I knew you could taste the coldness of my lips
As you kissed me,
But for some reason that didn’t bother you.
Now a year and a few months later,
You feel my lips getting warmer.
You are not my sun
But you have given a warmth to my body
That I had not yet felt.
I’m not sure if any of this makes sense but
You are the first person I have allowed myself to love again.
I was broken long before
You made your way into my life.
You pour your love into me
In attempt to conceal the holes left by my past
That I do not need to hide from you.
If you find me crying on the floor begging you to leave me alone
Missing breaths I will later regret not taking in,
Gently cradle me into your arms,
Place me on your lap,
And slowly rock me back and forth
Until I no longer feel anything but you.
Until I am no longer drowning in my endless flow of tears.
Until I no longer need bitter wine to drink my sorrows away.
Until I can stand on my own two feet again.
Until we have touched each other so much that we become one.
