Invisible Monster
What would you do
If an invisible monster
Screamed inside your body
Hoping you choke?
Would you hold on to hope?
Or would you reach for the rope?
Getting out of bed
Could be the hardest start
With the monster on your shoulder
Tearing you apart
Focusing is a
Whole other aspect
Constant brain fog
Living your life
In a haze-
This will always be your life
This is not just a "phase"
Thinking about how
To handle your future
With a constant reminder
You'll live like this
Forever
Sadness bursting
Out at the seams
When being "normal" again
Is only in
Your wildest dreams
With you bad days
Worse than a nightmare
Only to find
Even the good days
Are bad
Having a dull pain
Throughout every
Muscle you obtain-
Limited activity
Causing a lack of positivity
What would you do
If your body
Encompassed a monster?
A chronic illness is
Simply an impostor
The thing about
Chronic illness-
It demands to be heard
Loud and clear
But only in your ears
No one knows
Quite how you feel-
This invisible little monster
That no one can see
Now listen to me:
A smile can
Hide your fear
The fear of your body
The fear of yourself
Afraid of what's inside
Nobody can help
On the sleepless nights
From tossing and turning in pain
Wishing only this monster
Would quit putting you in vain
Do you choose to give?
Or do you choose to live?
