Do They Know?
Do they know?
Do they know I can hear the whispers between friends?
The snickers as I walk by in my torn clothes?
Do they know?
Do they know my house was engulfed in a flame?
I was the only one that survived.
If they knew would they still judge?
Do they know how many tears I have shed every night in a group home?
Tears pouring down my face.
In my dreams I still see my family
We’re smiling and enjoying life.
Then I wake up and realize it was just a dream.
After I escaped I called 911
FOUR PEOPLE HAVE YET TO COME! I scream through the phone
But it was too late
I was all alone. With a loud explosion the house was gone.
The cops came and, I was whisked away taken into a home.
For the first night in forever, I had to sleep alone.
No stuffed animals no siblings,
Just the pillow, blanket and I.
Will they ever know what I have been through?
No one talks to me because people judge books by their cover.
But if they read my story, would they still feel the same?
Would they talk to me and make me feel welcome.
Do they know I need a friend more than anything right now?
Do they know?
Would they care?
Would they stop the stares?
