Mistaken Trust

You were the rock
sitting upon the ocean of my darkest thoughts;
I confided myself in you with hope
that you would never bring my concealed secrets
to the light of day
Yet, in a crash of oncoming waves,
I was proved to be mistaken
for you took my beacon calls
and used them to fill my mind
with nothing but regret,
drowning me in a sea of my own thoughts
as you told me
that the only person to blame for being lost at sea
was myself
