I told you I am leaving and now you know why
his eyes grab at mine through blue irises
darker than the sky at the lowest hour
not with soft hands he once took tenderly in mine
but rough weapons
his fingers wrap around my lungs
choking me with his words
I hold my breath when he slams his entrance
like an earthquake shaking my bones
I become a mouse when it hears the cat's bell
he doesn't lay a finger on me
only for comforting
words beat me until I am numb
spots flash before my eyes
I remain standing with shaky knees
I keep my tounge on a leash in fear of relatiation
today I set it free
a suitcase at my feet
on a hard leather bus seat
doctoring my invisible wounds
bandaging my hurt
