Dance Of Wildlife
Tripping over a tree root, the little girl glances.
The birds, fluttering, sing a nervous tone.
The bees buzz uncertainty. The little girl walks up.
Out of their hiding spot, a bunny and friends peek.
The clearing was interested in the curiosity of the little girl.
Dancing, the butterflies choose her as their partner.
The little girl’s laugh rang across the clearing--a butterfly landed on her nose.
The flowers call out to the bees and birds.
“She needs a flower crown! A flower crown! A flower crown!”
Birds craft one color of the rainbow to drape over the little girl’s head.
The little girl plays leapfrog--the bunnies try to keep up.
The birds sing their favorite tunes. The bees keep the beat bright.
The butterflies twirl as an imaginary partner.
The sun smiles and laughs at this happy scene.
The crown of the rainbow slides off her head to the clearing floor.
The sun--falling shy-- hides behind a blanket of cottonball clouds.
The bees, birds, bunnies, and butterflies make a blanket of moss.
The clearing grows quiet as the birds cease their singing;
The butterflies and bunnies cease dancing;
The bees cease their buzzing beat.
Her lips whisper, “Thank you.”
