Belonging
I want to be
someone's princess
beautiful, perfect, flawless
I want to be
the reason they get up in the morning
I want to make them smile
even when mine is fading
I just want to be loved
like the ocean loves the shore
always reaching out to wash it away within
itself
Like the sky loves the stars
clearing spreading itself thin
just to allow them to be seen
Like the angels love their wings
the reason they can feel the wind in their hair
the reason they are free.
Boundless
I want to be that for someone
I want someone to be that for me.
I’m nothing right now
but still everything
somehow seems to go wrong
Where’s the love?
Did it just
fly like a bird from a cage
dive off the deep end forgetting
to take a breath before it struggled
to death?
Well you know what?
I’m done.
Done loving you
loving myself.
I can be plain plaid and straight jacketed/
I’ll just watch
But I’m left wishing
I wish I could be your princess
as the crown drops and shatters
splintering and slicing me
until I bleed into the ocean you bled before
Funny the blood is black
perhaps some of my soul leaked onto the asphalt
by your toes
And maybe when I die.
You’ll understand as I whisper
As. You. Wish.
Because I’ll never be a princess
But perhaps I’ll be serving you until the end
