Closer
Our thighs touch when we sit next to each other,
But they could lie across one another
And I’d still want you closer.
Our fingers are intertwined without space between our palms,
But we could squeeze them hard together
And I’d still want you closer.
Our chests are pressed together when we embrace,
But they could be pressed tighter so our hearts couldn’t find room to breathe
And I’d still want you closer.
Our bodies are completely touching skin on skin,
But osmosis could put you into my veins
And I’d still want you closer.
Our souls are one.
But we are miles apart.
I still need you closer.
