Firee
Of course there was a fire.
It always begins with a spark.
Then it catches on the dry kindling of our empty hearts.
Suddenly, life bursts through our desolate veins
Returning the warmth we longed for
Alas, mighty fire can be quenched
with the pouring rain
and it’ll reduce to an ember
and the smoke will rise
choking the breath of our love
the death of a fire
is the death of a heart
