Inside the “Me” Generation
I live within a sea of self entitlement and selfishness,
The truth of the “Me” Generation
People strive to be different: oversized glasses and ugly sweaters,
only to become exactly the same
Where every move is calculated: the clothes we wear, the way we speak, the music we listen to,
nothing is genuine
Where the word of the year is “selfie”
Where things that should be insignificant such as weight, number of romantic ventures, and your competence in athletics are what determine your personal value
Where, although we are a part of the 21st century, women still do not have equal rights to men
Where unlimited available knowledge on the dangers of drug use
doesn’t stop the abuse
Where heavy makeup is used to cover the deep purple bags underneath our eyes and depression runs rampant
Where girls miss meals and choke on their fingers
because skinny will never be skinny enough
Where important words such as love and beauty have long lost their significance
I live in a corrupt heaven, where devils lie their way inside
and angels are victims of self abuse
The truth of the “Me” generation
