Fear.
“Fear is the most primal of emotions.
It can linger as a memory burned into one’s mind,
of a parent taken too soon or burrow into one’s soul,
as self-doubt over a child’s rejection.
But the one thing we fear the most, is the unknown.”1
They say fear can motivate you,
but that it can also paralyze you.
We live in a world that is not both one and the other,
but one or the other.
As Cassie Sullivan once said,
this is an “either/or world”.2
You can either choose to trust someone,
or you can choose to trust no one.
But how do you know if you can trust anyone?
You don’t.
We come from a world where we either choose to further advance,
to innovate
to create,
or where we falter, fail,
and ultimately give up.
The endless struggle to overcome our fear of the unknown,
is that,
endless.
No one is ever fearless,
for fear exists within us all.
It either drives us or destroys us.
Fear is not easily swayed or shaken.
After all, fear is as obstinate as its host.
It can be as poisonous and as deadly as you allow it to be.
Try as you might,
and try you will,
you will never completely drive fear away.
Because fear is not only in you.
It is you.
