Anorexia
“Fitting into a mold.
That’s the best,” she was told.
So she wore herself thin,
Just hoping to fit in.
As hard as she tried, she was still too fat.
And, after all, no one could ever love that.
But one sunny day she decided to try
What it would feel like flying up high in the sky.
So, all dressed in black, the world finally saw
What she now looks like, all rubbed thin and raw.
The torture never stopped – she was still always served
Way more than she thought – way more than she deserved.
The criticism didn’t end. Oh, no, it got worse.
She thought she would end up lying in a hearse.
But, that’s not true, and she knew it too well,
That she wouldn’t end up like those others who fell.
Her curves filled out and her cheeks less hollow,
She knew she was one who didn’t dare follow.
Her brush with death had made her realize
That there’s more to her than her supermodel size.
As she kept eating, her confidence grew,
And she finally filled out to be something new.
Her body was happy and so were her friends,
As she knew that this nightmare had come to an end.
