Mere Existence
Dark, knotted hair conceals her pale face,
the long locks gently blowing at her petite and fragile waist.
The currents of this wind flow straight through her.
She softly glances upward,
revealing how heavy and dark her eye lids have grown.
The distress in her dull, sullen eyes mask her compassion.
Water glides by the tips of her whithered, bony fingers,
yet she cannot feel how cold it is.
Nor can she hear the subtle sounds of nature,
for she is enclosed by towering trees,
and vibrant moss that scatters the rich forest floor.
Multiple forms of life surround her,
yet within herself,
she has discovered none.
