Today I was told for the first time to hold myself as if in prayer,
three x-rays later and I’m arranging prescriptions
into flowers on my bedside
numbers and letters on each round petal like
every text from you was a poem
every smile an orchestra pit
You were more upset with my unanswered prayers than I was
so we grew gardens in our livers and watered them with gin
and you saved all the pictures I sent you
and I envied the person I had yet to meet
We’ll reunite eventually
We’ll reunite eventually
