Roadways Of My Life
Going down memory lane,
I realized my life
Though not extremely extraordinary,
Had been quite amazing.
I had broken boundaries
Mended tattered bridges
Walked atop rough gravel
Lazed on soft, wet grass
Climbed high on rocky mountains
Skied down snowy slopes
Crossed arid valleys,
Forded rivers and streams on fallen tree trunks.
I chose paths at crossroads
When the path abruptly ended
I hacked my way through wooded plains.
And though, at times, I stopped to think
Never once did I go back
I always made a choice.
So many experiences and lessons
Add brush strokes to my skills
Help for future crossroads.
Which I know are sure to come.
Returning to the present
As I relate my tale ,
One common to every human.
I don’t know where I stand now
Am I crossing a river or
Sliding down a hill?
That’s one thing about life,
You can never trust the present
Your future self must look back
To illlustrate your past
