Modified
Modified bodies
our count grows in size.
We want not to be normal,
but to catch peoples eye.
Our body is a canvas,
not meant to be blank and white like the snow.
Is something so wrong
with having pictures on our skin?
we’re ordinary people,
with a defined style.
You like large hoop earrings?
I like thin stretched dangling ear lobes.
You wear artificial makeup that “covers up the real you”
I wear facial piercings, one protruding from my lip.
Our employers hate us,
possibly won’t hire us,
unless we cover our personality
that we wear on our skin.
Everywhere we go,
People judge us,
Give us strange looks or laugh with their friends
and you wanna know what?
I’m judging you, for judging me.
BOOM!
