Where I'm From
I am from small town chic.
where jeans and a sweatshirt are common attire,
and your “lazy day” is our everyday.
where sneakers and flip-flops are not nearly as common as cowboy boots and steel toes.
“hillbilly” is a brand you wear with pride,
plaid and bibbers are the hand-me-downs nobody wants to get rid of.
I am from the place where everybody knows that you can’t keep us cooped up.
where we would rather be outside in the mud, over classrooms anyday.
extra curricular here should involve feeding the chickens or mucking stalls.
where you know the grass is always greener when you’re not looking at it from a classroom window.
I am from friendly neighbors and free cups of sugar.
where giving away extras instead of selling them is the only way you know.
church is all about getting reaquainted with the entire town.
where we all hang our American flags with pride, and sing the National Anthem
