Red Moon
Lookout for the stars tonight
You’ll see them rise and twinkle
Watch out for those sleepin’ moons
Waiting on death and hoping on you
Help each other see the light
Watch all those shining stars--keep a scream under your tongue for those sleepin’
Moons
Moons that wax blood against their façade and into the almighty night sky
Pick up your things as they scatter across the floor
Hurry, don’t wait, what are you waitin’ for?
Because behind you there will be those nasty moons
And beneath them may be you
Hurry, please, don’t wait around
Hope you won’t get stuck behind.
Walk, walk, walk now.
Wouldn’t want those moons to catch you standing tall
‘Cause once they see you atop the game, they snatch the shoes off your ankles
Don’t run, run, but pace yourself
That’s how you will hide
Once you get home
Forget you ever saw those red moons.
Forget you ever heard their shouts, their moans, and their own vices
Forget you ever dropped your life and let it scatter across the floor
Look up, look up now, why, don’t you see?
Here in this box of pitch there are the stars!
Let their light pool onto your skin and fuel the embers of your eyes.
But tomorrow, when those moons are full,
Walk, don’t run--they’ll catch you out of step.
Yet, remember, when the day is ‘Fin, you’ll be sure to look out your window to see
the twinkling spectacles of tonight’s sky.

This piece is about fitting in and how the world oppresses those who fall out of life's step, those who are different, those who may have a different outlook than the majority. This poem is for those people. March on.
