Where I'm From
I am from hating nap time and getting up at 6:00am.
From sneaking through the cattails--getting sweaty and muddy--to catch a frog.
From walking through the waist-high prairie grass, and
swinging my net at bugs to feed the fish in the pond.
From my feet monotonously hitting the pavement as I ran with my dad.
From driving the Go-kart in the prairie behind the pond.
From moving and leaving Kyle, Brock, and Henry behind for track and cross country.
I am from the house we rented with the climbing tree.
From playing the baritone for the school band.
From the farm cat that worked her way into our family with her affection.
From having to give her away as we moved out.
From staying up past 12:00 to play games with Jacob.
From letting my grades slip because a book was a lot more fun than homework.
I am from going into high school with high expectations for my grades and cross country.
From overestimating myself and underestimating myself.
From not studying, but getting the A.
From realizing the success of the team going to state felt better than personal success.
From realizing best friends come from many places,
and might not be close to you.
From going into my junior year of high school.
