Sacrificed Beauty
September 9, 2014
You planted flowers
In my lungs
They smell and appear beautiful
However, I can no longer breathe
You played with fire
In front of my eyes
It was a firework of light
However, I can no longer see
You housed butterflies
Inside my stomach
They gorgeously took flight
However, I can no longer eat
You composed the music
Inside my heart
It was an extrodinary sound
However, I can no longer feel it beat
You wrote poetry
Within my skull
The words deeply spoke
However, I can no longer thrive
You injected hate
Into my veins
I saw the world from a new perspective
However, I can no longer survive

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.
