Silence

They search for tools and build machines,
They count stars and parch the streams,
They slash knives and break ties,
They yearn for answers through blood and fist fights,
They bury the truth and state the facts,
They twist nature and make it seem fat,
They churn and churn and break and burn,
To build a machine that goes back in time,
While I sit here all alone, wondering how silence
Didn’t answer these blind men’s cries.
