I remember your hair,
Soft like feathers, colored like leather,
It got caught in my locker,
I pulled it out impulsively,
And you shuffled away,

I remember your sweater,
It was fuzzy like old money,
You wrapped it around your chair,
And I had to grab it to sit down,

Who are you? What are you?
Why do I care?
Are you in track or lacrosse?
Because I think I saw you there,

At the field,
With the turf,
You know which one I mean,
Gagging, pale green, hoping not to be seen,

I don’t know why I’m drawn,
Maybe I wonder what’s wrong,
I’m a good student,
I should be more prudent,

But seeing what you did,
With the people you’re with,
I get so scared,
Aren’t you just a kid?

You seem kinda nice,
But my mom gave me this advice;
Don’t go with people who aren’t your type,

So when I had you for gym,
Measuring B.P.M.,
I did all the work,
While you texted Josh on your phone,

And when I got home,
I checked facebook,
I couldn’t believe it,
I took a second look,

The skinniest selfie I’ve ever seen,
I knew your clothes were baggy but now I see,
Practically nude,
The world screams, so cute!
You have a problem,
Is there something I should do?

The next day at gym,
You didn’t come,
I had to do all the work,
I was really bummed,

I stopped by your house,
After three days,
I knocked on the door,
But I had nothing to say,

Your mom let me in,
Your house is so nice!
I love the décor,
Fresher than ice,

I say I’m your friend,
And I’m a bit concerned,
She said you’re kinda sick,
Those were her exact words,

We talked until nine,
When I had to say goodbye,
Carly wanted to come over,
And she needed a ride,

As I left your house,
I saw you come out,
Of Joshes car,
Making drunk sounds,

I hid behind a tree,
What’s wrong with me!
I tried not to move but soon I was seen,

“Hey Rebecca!”
“Hi Lucy!”
“Whatcha doin’ at my house?”

“You know, whatever, I’m just going now.”

“Oh, okay, goodbye!”

I drove home under clouds,
I kept thinking aloud,
I went to bed sadly,
Worrying about you madly,

Ten years later I saw you,
And you were not the same,
Not sure what I could’ve done,
But now I’ll always feel grey,
