"Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present." --Marcus Aurelius

it pools deep
in holes in hands
in holy crooked neck and shoulder bones
of sleeping giants;
let us breathe,
me and me and
me,
in my empty aching desert
land of potential
of milk and honey and heavy clouds
that press
low
down
and never rain
it pools deep but I need
a thunderstorm
I need something to regret
buds rising from swollen soil
and burst
I need the fevers of some state of mind
I've yet to discover, lying
in secret volcanoes
mumbling howling to itself
tearing at its fingernails and
tense.

this is the time to leap
and not to love.

this is the time to think
body thoughts.

Ah, my dear, it's wonderful to see new stuff from you. It's been a while since your last new poems. Nonetheless, I have waited for long for new writings. And here at last!   Now, to decipher this beauty (by the way, congrats on the Editors' Choice; by now, they're no surprise for you, I assume). Something tells me that this poem is about body exploration; more correctly, I'm assuming, in the s*xual manner. Correct me if I'm wrong. I believe, it's talking about how we should accept s*x for what is. To not analyze what may come of of it, but what we can enjoy of it in the NOW rather than considering its future outcomes. The speaker has a war in her/his mind about not giving in to s*x, but at the same time, feeling the desperate need to give in. In the end, this person finally realizes that NOW is not that time to consider outcomes, but to enjoy youth and its pleasures and vanities. I love the lines "I need something to regret", "this is the time to leap/ and not to love", and "this is the time to think/ body thoughts".    My friend, you're genius! Amazing work as always. 5/5 Hope to hear from you soon, if possible.
