The Shaffers
The Shaffer’s
I am from rice
From burgers and adobo
I am from broken doors, locked windows, and chipped paint
Ugly, Loud
It felt like home
I am from the grass,
The dirt, Un-watered, untrimmed, uncared for.
I am from football Sundays, and bacon in the mornings
From lionesa, from George
From people who love me
I am from yelling at sports through TV,
And the endless nights of soccer with my hyper little brother.
From the “Hey that’s mine!” ,To the “Dude shut up”
I’m from the rosaries
From the praying before driving
I’m from few small towns
From fries and fish
From the long talks at night,
That are just too deep for me
I am from baby pictures in wallets.
I am from Family.
