Something there is that doesn’t love our age.
It is something we are never satisfied with,
No matter how young, no matter how old.
When you are young you say, “I can’t wait to grow up.”
You think your age defines you.
It tells you when you can drive, vote, and drink.
It tells you when you are an adult or still a child,
So you end up wishing your life away.
And the old say to the young again and again,
“Good time makes good people.”
Now the old say, “I wish I was young again.”
You want the freedom from you teenage years.
The longevity from your all-nighters in college,
And the innocence from your childhood.
But the young say to the old,
“Good time made good people, and that is what you are”
“Something there is that doesn’t love our age,” they said,
For once they were finally in agreement.
Our age just keeps on changing with or without us.
All we should do is just embrace it.
The two looked at each other and together finally said,
“Good time is still making good people,
And that is what we have and are still becoming.
